World Mental Health Day 2019
I will never get tired of talking about mental health, it is the biggest reason why people seek counselling and I work with all different types of mental health on a daily basis.
1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem each year (Mind website) and do you know what the most common treatment for mental health is? Yup, you guessed it- medication!
I remember the days where it was near impossible to get a prescription for anxiety/depression/ etc but nowadays it is so common for people to have been on them at least once in their lifetime.
Seeking professional help from a counsellor/ psychologist/ psychiatrist is nothing to be ashamed of and it is a better form of treatment in the long run than medication. My experience of people on medication is that they don’t want to be on it for the rest of their lives and yet they don’t seek other forms of treatment.
Utilise your support networks and do not be ashamed if you seek professional help, the first step is always the hardest 💫
